Chicago

Hi all - we are home, got in yesterday afternoon and are SO happy to say that we had a fun and successful trip and as of this morning we are the proud owners of the above house. We looked at a ton of houses, and were more than disappointed in the majority of them. Unfortunately for us, the cost of living is much higher in Chicago than in Erie and cute and livable houses in our price range seemed hard to come by. But - on the last day of house hunting, Alec and I came across this house, a darling colonial built in 1908, and fell in love with it. We were w/o Matt, so we took him back on Sunday, and he loved it as much as we did. After some haggling, we finalized a contract this morning and are set to close on the 28th of January! We will be here in CO through the holidays, which is good news and we are so happy to have a house we are excited about to look forward to. We did manage to do some other fun stuff on our trip (as good as he was for us, I think Alec was finished with house hunting by the end,) and I have included a bunch of pictures. Funny note, Alec is now obsessed with airplanes and had a blast on both of our flights - he did cry both times, but only after the plane had landed on the runway, and this was b/c he wanted, in his words, "more jet plane," and "nother plane ride."

Visiting the awesome Lincoln Park zoo in downtown Chicago with Mark, Christie and Hayden.

It was nearly impossible to get a pic of Alec and Hayden on their choo-choo ride.
This leopard playing with a pumpkin was really cool to see.
Going on a hay ride.

Alec collected giant leaves everywhere we went. The first day we were there he actually brought some home for Matt and left them sitting on his pillow. Matt laughed pretty hard when he got home from work. He also collected quite a few for our realtor Don.
Hey there
Hanging in dad's apartment
Visiting another community zoo that had a fall fest.

Feeding the ducks

Taking the giant Ferris wheel at the Navy Pier - I might have had a bit of a panic attack during this ride, I know it sounds ridiculous, but it was REALLY high.
Checking out the Navy Pier.

Visiting dad at work for lunch.
Alec and I in downtown Glen Ellyn - our new town. Our house is only a block and a half away from the downtown shops and the train into the city!
It wouldn't be a successful trip if Alec didn't get a chance to throw some rocks, and yes - he did proudly sport his Colorado and Bronco gear all over the windy city.

OMG, your house is ADORABLE! I love, love, love old houses. Your new neighborhood sounds right up our alley. Older neighborhoods have so much character and so many neat things to do. I bet you will love it there! And yay for staying in CO through the holidays! It looks like you guys already found a ton of fun things to do. We are already excited to visit you when we are there in May! And why does your hair look so long in some of those pictures? Did you get extensions?!
