I love my cousin

Alec had a great playdate with his cousin Reid today. They ran around like maniacs at the WOW museum and then had a ball during lunch. Their highchairs were right next to eachother, and they spent almost the entire meal mimicking one another, squeeling and then all out cracking up at one another. It was pretty stinkin cute.

Alec wanted to pose for a picture with everyone but Mommy.

Tractor Heaven

Alec has a new obsession - his green tractor! He wants to drive it ALL THE TIME, and has become quite the pro. He will no longer go in first gear, instead he slams down the shifter into second gear and says "fast." He can drive around corners and turns with no trouble, and being the true fearless little daredevil that he is, he has even figured out how to abruptly let up on the gas and skid into a stop. Here are some pics, and a video. The video really does his driving skills no justice, as it was taken only the day after he got the tractor, when he was still driving rationally. I'll be sure to get more video of his new fearless antics.

When you are two you are big enough to drive a tractor!

Daddy Time

We think the hardest part about our upcoming move to Chicago may be that Alec has to adjust to being away from his Daddy. Matt is hands down Alec's favorite person in the entire world, and he has gotten very used to having him around all the time. So - in preparation for Matt's departure, which is in less than two weeks, they have been spending as much QT together as possible.

They have the exact same fake smile!

I'm 2!

Alec celebrated his big 2nd birthday this Saturday! We had plans for a great outdoor party in the park, but as it goes with Mother Nature, we woke up to very overcast skies and rain. We waited until about noon, hoping it would clear up, and then threw in the towel and decided we needed another option. We had initally said we would just move the party to our house, but after re-counting the number of guests, and kiddos, we decided that wasn't going to work either. I went out on a limb and called the club house in our neighborhood to see if I might be able to have the party there, and ended up getting lucky. They had a room available and so we switched venues. It was a little chaotic, but it ended up working out perfectly. The woman who teaches Alec's music class came to the party and did a class for him and all his buddies. It was a total hit, and I think all 14 of the kids in attendance enjoyed it. Alec was particularly entertained, and seemed to know it was his party b/c he spent about half the class in the middle of the circle dancing and performing for the crowd, something he has never done at music class. All in all, it was a great party and we think Alec really enjoyed himself. He is a lucky little boy who is loved by many people and Matt and I couldn't feel prouder of him. He has made the last two years the best of our lives and we are amazed at how our love for him just continues to grow. Here's to our two year old.
