Swimming

On Monday Alec started up swim lessons again. The last time we did them he was only 6 months old, so we figured it would be a good time to get him back in the water. We changed it up and are taking them at the Broomfield Rec instead of the Erie Rec this time. The water temp at Erie is almost unbearable (during out last classes the instructor wore a wet suit) and I was dissappointed with the instruction, or lack-there-of, at Erie. So, we started at Broomfield on Monday, and the water temp was great. Sadly, the instruction may be worse. The instructor is a teenage girl who said maybe 2 things the entire class, one of which was that we should introduce ourselves, despite the fact that she wouldn't remember us next week. Other than that, she handed us some toys and said we should have the kids throw them and then swim to them. That was it. I do realize that there isn't all that much you can teach little ones, but I don't think some basic instruction is too much to ask for. The kids in the class are up to 3, and I know they are old enough to learn some basic skills. Reagrdless, Alec loved being back in the water and it is good motivation to get us to the pool twice a week. Plus, Matt was able to come with us to the first class, so despite the worthless lesson, we did get a bunch of great pics.

Taking a little break

Alec won't blow bubbles yet, but he loves to stick his face in and pretend that he is blowing them.
Highlight of the pool for Alec - the giant waterslide we went on when we were finished. He was actually pretty distracted by it throughout the lesson.

Playing in the fountains.

Despite the serious face, he had a great time.

Long Time No Post

Its been awhile since our last post! We actually had a potential computer disaster, so we haven't had the opportunity to use the computer for awhile. About 2 weeks ago our computer just stopped turning on. We weren't too worried since we hadn't had any problems and b/c one of our friends is a computer genius. However, upon taking it to be inspected, we discovered that our hard drive had completely crashed and that everything on it was gone. By everything, I mean the 5,000 plus pics I have of Alec's entire life. Needless to say, we were devastated - espeically b/c we hadn't backed up the pics. Anyway - to make a long story short, by some miracle, our friend was able to recover almost all of the pics and info on the hard drive. I'm not sure if I have EVER been so happy about something. Moral of the story - if you have anything of value on your hard drive, back it up now. It's not worth waiting on for even a day. So, aside from a brief 2 weeks in computer hell, we have been doing well and Alec has been continuing to grow like a weed and cause endless amounts of mischief. Here are some cute recent pics - the shopping cart he got for Easter is a source of hours of entertainment. Alec loves pushing it around and transporting things from one place to another. It's pretty funny to watch him take it into the pantry and load it up with goodies. The other pics are of Alec modeling his first pair of summer p.j.'s from Grandpa Randy and Retta. Stay tuned for more posts, as I have a bunch of other cute pics to share.

Pearl Street & Ice Cream

Matt and I found an old gift certificate that we had to Happa, so we headed up to Pearl Street yesterday afternoon w/ Alec. It was a beautiful night and Alec had a complete ball running up and down the mall. He was fascinated w/ the people, the music, the flowers, and all of the different things to climb on. He also sampled his first bite of sushi, which he did not seem to be a fan of, and had his first ever ice cream cone. We stopped at Haagen Dazs on the way back and they had kids cones on the menu, so we figured why not. Unfortunately, the kids cone wasn't any smaller than an adult cone. Alec loved holding the ice cream cone, running with it, and smearing it in his hair. He wasn't too into eating it, but he enjoyed it nonetheless, and he was quite a hit running down the mall w/ ice cream all over himself and an upside down cone in his hand. Plus, it was still fairly cool out, so the ice cream stayed on the cone the entire way back to our car.

Meeting the pig outside a stationary store - he loved snorting at it.

Happy Easter

Alec celebrated Easter this year with his first egg hunt. We had brunch at Abby and Ross', so the hunt was at their house. Alec was a little confused at first, but quickly caught on. He did get a bit side tracked when he discovered that there were treats inside the eggs though- he would find an egg, open it, shove all of the egg contents into this mouth, and then put the egg back where he found it. It was hilarious, although after about 4 fist fulls of dried cherries we decided we had to empty the eggs before he got to them. He also got a new shopping cart from Grammy, which was definitely the highlight of the day and a very fun way for him to transport this eggs.

This is post egg content gluttony.

Cleveland

We got back this week from a long stay with our good friends Julie and Jason and their 3 kiddos: Zach, Zoe and Logan, in Cleveland. It was a great trip for both the adults and the kiddos. We were actually scheduled to come back last weekend, but were having so much fun that we decided to postpone our departure for a few days. It was actually much sunnier and warmer in Cleveland than here in Denver and we had a great time playing outside and checking out some of the local kid friendly sites. Julie took us to the Children's museum, the natural history museum, a great indoor kid play center, and to several local parks. Plus, there was an endless supply of new and exciting toys at the Wolfe house for Alec to play with. His favorites were a shopping cart and the mini-basketball hoops outside. Plus, their old neighbors left a trampoline in their backyard and the kids had endless fun running and jumping on it. By the end of our stay, both Alec and Logan would take off on their own for the tramp and climb right on up by themselves. Luckily, it was a kid friendly trap with a giant net around the outside to prevent falls. Here are just a few of the MANY pics I took on the trip. Thanks so much Julie and Jason for hosting us, we love you guys!

Alec and Logan had a never ending battle over sippy cups - they are about 6 weeks apart in age.

This is at the Shaker Heights Family Center - Zoe had a great time driving both little boys around.

Alec and Logan - by far the most adventurous and ornery of the bunch.

I know this pic is blurry but I had to post it b/c the two of them had so much fun on this swing together.

They had a giant pile of dirt that they used for the yard delivered while we were there - endless fun for the kiddos.

Story time with Uncle Tubby - no joke, that is what the Wolfe children call Matt.
