Cousins

We had a fun playdate today w/ Aunt Ne, Uncle Te, Avery and Ansley (Alec's 2nd cousins - I think??) The highlight of the morning for Alec was playing chase w/ the girls out front. He also got to check out Avery's fancy pink jeep. He and Ansley are only 9 months apart, so hopefully they will have fun playing together as they get older. For now, Alec just needs to work on sharing, which is something he had a hard time with this morning - he's old enough to know what he wants, but not quite old enough to understand the concept of give and take. We are working on it.

Spring Weather

Some pics of Alec at the park over the weekend - he tremendously enjoyed the 75 degree weather, and the tractor parked accross the street from the park.

My Favorite Things

Some cute pics of Alec hanging in the playroom. I took him to get 18 month pics yesterday and it didn't go very well. Our appt was at 11, but they somehow messed it up and we didn't end up getting in until 12:20. Needless to say, Alec was over it. Had they taken pics when we first got there, I think he would have been great, but he had been there for over and hour and wasn't too willing to smile. So - these pics are of the cute outfit I attempted to have his pic taken in earlier.

Hello...

The popper is still a favorite

Alec LOVES this shape ball - he and dad do it about 10-15 times a day. Alec can successfully put in all the shapes, and can also identify specific ones when we ask him to. It's funny b/c 98% of the time he pics the circle to start with.

Yesterday was the first time he successfully bulit a leggo tower - he was very impressed with himself. Pardon the nasty post dinner hair-do.

Happy St. Patty's Day

Alec's only green shirt

Shirtless

This is after lunch the other day, we have had to start feeding Alec clothless b/c he makes such a mess.

We seriously did not put him into this position.

A Year and a half

We can hardly believe it, but Alec turned 18 months old yesterday. While it seems like a lifetime ago that we brought him home from the hospital as a newborn, it also seems crazy that our baby can be 1 1/2. He continues to be a little wild man, full of energy and personality! He keeps us on our toes for sure, and we love his independent and spirited nature more and more everyday. This week he showed us that he is totally capable of getting out of his bed on his own. We went in to get him after his nap and were playing around on the side of his bed; he wanted to join us, so he effortlessly flung his stomach up onto the side rail of the bed and came over head first. Luckily we were there to catch him, or he would have ended up right on his head. Also lucky for us, he hasn't tried this daring feat again - yet! The pics are just some randoms I took yesterday to celebrate his half b-day. He continues to love books, and will bring them to us to read to him throughout the day. His other loves at this time in his life include his shape balls, any and all cars and trucks, and playing outside. He also loves sleep. The time change has worked out fabulously at our house - we have decided to keep him up a little later at night b/c it is still light outside, so he has been going to bed about 7:45, and to our delight, not waking up until 8 - 8:30 in the morning. We actually had to wake him up today at 8:30. He also still takes a 2.5 - 3 hour nap in the afternoon. Definitely a nice treat for mom and dad - I guess when you play hard you sleep hard.

The Week in Pictures

A photo display of Alec's week:

Keeping him occupied at the store

Our first visit to the awesome indoor play area at the Broomfield Rec - Alec probably went down this slide about 20 times - and it was A LOT of work for him to climb to the top. I love the action shot, even if it is blurry.

Commandeering mom's water bottle on the way home from the gym.

Climbing onto the counter - those who have been to our house know that it isn't low to the ground. He was using a kitchen chair as leverage and then belly flopping up onto the counter.

Bruiser - Alec had several wipe-outs this week. He smashed head first into Brody on our bed, which was actually a true accident and of no fault of either Brody or Alec, and has a nice black eye to prove it. At the gym they asked me if he had been in a fist fight. He also fell flat onto his belly off a picnic table at the park and did a dive roll down the slide at the rec center. Although I can see how one might assume we let this kiddo run wild, we try our hardest - he is just a maniac! Not one of these falls did a thing to deter his craziness, so we are just bracing ourselves for the bumps and bruises to come.

I Feed Myself

Alec has pretty much mastered how to feed himself correctly. Just this morning he had a bowl of regular cereal in milk and successfully ate it using a spoon. We did catch him sticking his hands into the bowl a few times, and a decent amount always ends up in his bib, but for the most part our little man has mastered cutlery - or using a spoon - which is all the cutlery he gets for now.

Squeegee

Alec loves to come in the shower with us, and it is not b/c he necessarily loves the shower itself, he just loves to play with all of the stuff in the shower. His ultimate favorite is squeegeeing the shower when we are finished.
