Beep Beep

Alec had a fantastic time celebrating his 3rd (I can hardly believe it's been 3 already) Halloween. He really started to understand what it was all about this year, and he loved all of it. We started out the weekend w/ a dress-up play date with his good buddies Riley, James and Audrina. Our attempts at getting a pic of all of them in costume was futile, but here are some cute ones of them trick-or-treating after they were done playing in the gym.

Alec playing in the gym - his under bus outfit left him looking like a little ninja.

Matt was able to come home for the weekend and partake in all of the Halloween festivities. We waited until Sat to carve pumpkins so Daddy could join.

Finished product

Taking a break from Halloween related activities to show off his Strider skills to dad.

Officially wearing the yellow bus. We were a little skeptical about how the whole costume bit would go. Alec was really excited about looking at the bus and putting it on for 1-2 minutes at a time, but we really didn't know if he would actually wear it trick-or-treating. He was a champ though - about 2 minutes before heading out the door he came running into the kitchen saying "my costume" and he was all about it. He put it on and paraded up and down our street honking his horn and smiling. He actually had two strangers ask if they could take his picture b/c he looked so cute all dressed up.

On the move

Brody also sported his Halloween jacket.
Could he look any happier

Directing us to the "next house."

He was a little shy when he actually got to peoples' doors, but he did manage to whisper trick-or-treat and thank-you at almost every house.

Aunt Abby and Alec
After hitting up about 8 houses Alec was ready to head back home - dad ended up with the bus.

What Alec enjoyed even more than actually trick-or-treating was answering the door. He would leap up every time the doorbell rang and he LOVED handing out candy with his dad. He was also very sweet with all the trick-or-treaters, chatting with them and wishing them all a "happy Halloween" before they left. All in all, it was a wonderful weekend and it was great to watch Alec have so much fun. I told Matt that I think Halloween might just have been the best day of Alec's life thus far.

I love the bus costume, seriously LOVE it. I am glad he wore it for trick-or-treating. He and James sound like they were the exact same on Halloween-don't you just love this age? When Tim asked James what the best costume was at his Halloween party, with no hesitation his answer was, "Alec school bus!"

I love the pumpkin carving pictures. Alec looks so very serious, and Dad looks like it's really hard not to laugh. Those are precious.
And I know I'm prejudiced, but I'm voting for the "elo dus" as #1 too.
Now the big challenge will come next year when you're trying to be creative again.
Such darling, wonderful children.

What cute pictures! Alec definitely wins the prize for cutest boy costume and you win for most cleaver mom. He looked so adorable trick or treating in his yellow bus!
