Alec celebrated his 10 month birthday this Saturday! We spent the weekend up at the condo and had a great time. Abby and Ross rode the triple bypass road race on Sat (yes - they rode 120 miles over 3 mountain passes - they are amazing!!!) and the race ended in Avon, so they met us at the condo on Sat night. Alec, Matt and I took our first long hike on Saturday up to Booth Falls in Vail. Alec enjoyed being the hiking backpack and actually found his voice in the process. He has been really quiet up to this point, he said gaa, gee and ahh a lot, but no real babbling. However, confine him a backpack for 4 miles and the sounds start coming. There has been a constant stream of babababa and raspberry blowing from him ever since. He has also started looking at a few things when we ask him where they are. So far he knows fan, light, book, Brody and daddy. Maybe he will surprise us and bust out one of these words soon. He is also in a very serious clingy phase right now - especially with daddy. If he leaves the room, or puts Alec down, all hell tends to break loose. This also happened at 2am last night, which was really strange for Alec who has always been such a great sleeper. He was in hysterics every time Matt and I left his room, but the minute we came back he was all smiles. It is a little endearing though, especially from our very independent boy, and hopefully it won't last too long. Here are some pics from the hike. Our poor little Brode (who turned 5 last month) is getting a little slow, as you can see the hike took it out of him....
