When it rains it pours

We certainly have no shortage of insane weather here in Chicago.  This time it was rain.  On Wed night it started dumping rain and it basically rained non-stop for the next 36 hours.  4 1/2 inches of rain later, we had a completely flooded town, yard and basement.  We checked the basement at about 6:00 and it was okay and then before Matt came to bed he went down and realized the sump pump was broken.  Seeing as there is no where to buy a sump pump at 11 pm, we had no choice but to go to sleep and hope that it wouldn't rain that much.  It did!  We woke up to a completely flooded basement, and I mean completely, I think we had just under 3 feet of water that all came up through our floor drains.  It was up to the 3rd stair on the staircase and all of our stuff was literally floating around.  Matt had to wade through the water in his swim trunks to put a new sump pump in and that wasn't until about noon because all of the streets were flooded, Home Depot was flooded and everyone was sold out of sump pumps.  Anyway, we got it emptied out and spent the entire weekend cleaning up the mess.  The worst of it is that it ruined both our hot water heater and our boiler, both of which were new, and had to be completely replaced.  So, our savings account took quite the hit from this lovely Midwest rainstorm.  On a positive note, we did finally get our new boiler put in today, so for the first time since last Wed we have heat in the house - just in time for it to actually warm up outside:)  Grrrrrr........
What a disaster - and no, our homeowners insurance doesn't cover flood damage....

Beach Vacay

We got back about a week ago from an amazing trip to the beach.  Matt's company has a condo on Madeira beach, which is outside of Tampa, and we were able to use it for the week.  Our balcony looked right at the beach and we had a pool and hot tub right below us and next to the ocean.  My sister, Ross and Ava rented the condo above us and Grammy joined us in our condo, so we had a full house.  Aside from Charlie still having the flu and being really sick for the first few days, we had an amazing time.  I think that a beach vacation is the ideal thing to do with kids our boys ages, all we did everyday was lounge at the beach or the pool, and it was perfect.  The boys favorite thing to do was play in the hot tub, one night Charlie actually climbed in fully clothed, and they were completely entertained all day every day and exhausted at night.  I've decided it will be a yearly Sungy vacation for many years to come:)  Here is a ridiculous amount of pics.

Happy Easter

We have all been hit with the flu around here, so our Easter was much less enjoyable and eventful than we had planned, but the boys had fun nonetheless.  They thoroughly enjoyed their new basketballs and the egg hunt left by the Easter bunny.
