Winter Fun

Here's a 32 month belly shot. I am feeling great, I met again with my specialist this week and everything with the baby looks good. My placenta is still really low, but it has moved a bit, and they don't expect me to have any complications as a result of its location. They won't let me try to deliver naturally unless it moves a bit more, but that isn't a big deal to me since I already had a c-section with Alec and am fine with another one this time around. So, as long as Erat (yes, Matt and Alec refer to the baby as Erat, pronounced E-rat) doesn't decide to come early, we are scheduled to meet him/her on March 8th. At my appt the baby weighed over 4 lbs, so if his/her growth continues on schedule he/she should be another 8lbs +, which is good for us since we are used to Alec and loved the giant baby that he was. I still really think it is another boy, but Matt isn't as convinced, I think b/c he really wants another boy and doesn't want to get his hopes up, and Alec still always refers to the baby as a she, although he will usually say it's a boy if you ask him about the gender outright. So, we will see....

Anyway....We took advantage of the 15 degree weather this morning and headed over to a park a few blocks from our house that just opened a new sledding hill. We couldn't believe how huge it was when they finished it this fall, Matt's guess is 50 ft tall and 300 ft long. It is certainly any kids' dream come true. We were a little timid when we first got there b/c we wanted to see how Alec would do, but he of course loved it, and after a few test runs decided that he wanted to go all the way from the top, all by himself, which he did about 20 times. He would even get going backwards and sideways and wasn't phased, he totally loved it! I think we will be visiting a few more times this winter!

Doing a few mid-way up the hill test runs

Totally into it

Heading down backwards

From the top

and making the long trek back up - what a great calorie burner!

Oh the things they say

The pic on this post is totally unrealted, just a cute one of Alec enjoying his new table and chairs that he got for xmas from Grammy and Papa. He has eaten almost every meal at the table since we got home. We think it's totally adorable.
So.....just a few hilarious things that have come from Alec in the last few days, and I apologize for the potty humor realted to a few, but I have to share b/c they are so funny:
At the airport in Denver on the way home I took Alec to the bathroom twice, the first time I went to the bathroom and then asked him if he needed to go, his response, "No mommy, I emptied out my tank at Grammy's house."
Then we went again before getting on the plane and after taking a really big bowel movement, he looked at it and said, "Wow Mom, that looks like Daddy's kind of damage." - Matt swears on his life he has never made such a remark to Alec about his own bowel movements.
Then yesterday I was making tacos for dinner and asked Alec if he would like one, his response, "Ya mom, I'm gonna house it."
So cute, he definitely keeps us laughing!

Christmas in CO

We had a wonderful xmas in CO this year and were reminded why we love and miss Denver so much. It was gorgeous and sunny for 2 weeks, we were able to catch up with all sorts of family and friends, Alec got his first experience hitting the slopes and we got to see Alec really understand the holiday and all the fun traditions that go along with it. I had almost 500 pics from our trip, we were busy, so I have included just a few faves here. We loved seeing you all and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Modeling his new frosty shirt

We started out the trip with a cookie baking play date with some of Alec's best buddies; James, Riley and Audrina. Alec took the cookie decorating job very seriously, and was the only one of the 4 big kiddos who was not at all interested in eating or sampling the frosting and decorations. Apparently he didn't get mama's sweet tooth.

Our little chefs

Some of the finished products

The whole gang, plus new additions Auggie and Mac.

A few days later we headed to the Nelson house for their annual Santa party. As you can see, the kiddos have all warmed up tremendously to Santa.

Talking very seriously with Santa about what he would like for Christmas

Checking out the early presents Santa brought

We enjoyed the sunny days with some baseball at the park, randomly Alec hits left handed. He does nothing else with his left hand, but he hits 100 percent better as a lefty. Looks like he may have a bit of Daddy and Grammy's ambidextrous talent.

Lots of cooking with Grammy

Our first trip to Eldora

Mastering the magic carpet

Taking a snowball up the magic carpet with him.

Post skiing, he worked hard.

Dinner with the entire Leavitt clan, Alec and Ansley were immediate buddies.

Setting out Christmas cookies with Reid (Santa came to Reid's house on Xmas eve, so Alec got some early practice)

Reindeer food - I think this was Alec's favorite part of Christmas this year

Making his new found favorite treat, butterscotch honeycombs

Reindeer food on Christmas Eve with Bub

Leaving out water for the reindeer too

and cookies

Christmas morning....Alec made out like a bandit and has had a ball playing with all his new loot. He actually has a giant box of toys on the way, which we had to pack up and ship, so it may seem like Christmas morning all over again sometime this week.

He and Matt got a remote control boat from Santa, which they were able to take down to the lake to test out on Christmas morning.

Christmas Day in the rockies

We headed over to Grandma Susan and Papa Gene's house about midday on Christmas and Alec got to spend the rest of the holiday celebrating with his cousins.

Testing out the stomp rockets we gave Reid

The rockets double as microphones

The slinkeys were also a huge hit

Bubble baths at Grammy's

I'm not able to run right now (pregnancy has been a little harder on me the second time around,) so Alec was thrilled to have the chance to go with Papa Ross and Miles.

Catching up with James

The butterfly pavilion with Grammy and Bub. Our flight home on Wed evening was canceled, so we had an extra 2 days to play. Alec was pretty distressed about going to the airport only to have to leave again, so we made our last 2 days extra fun for him. We went to the butterfly pavilion, build-a-bear, and Alec's first movie at a theatre, Yogi Bear, before heading home.
Holding Rosie
And that's a wrap....we miss you all already!
