Alec Updates
News on the Alec front - my mom and step dad Ross just moved in b/c they sold their house and are waiting for their new one to be built. It is fairly crazy w/ 4 adults, 3 dogs and a baby, but things are going well and Alec loves beating up on Miles - their golden retriever. Luckily for him, Miles will lay completely still and take all the beatings that Alec can dish out. We are working hard on petting the doggy gently, but we are definitely not there yet. Here are some cute pics of the 2 of them.
Also - we just got back from visiting our good friends Julie and Jason and their 3 little ones in Michigan. It was a great, relaxing vacation. We kayaked, jet skied and enjoyed a few different boat trips. Alec had a nice time, although he was insanely clingy with his father while we were there and just a bit out of sorts. It looks like he is on the verge of getting his 4 upper teeth, although they still aren't here, and we think the new environment and large number of people may have been a bit much for him. Regardless, it was a great trip. However - we have resigned from taking him on any more plane rides for awhile - the days of stress free baby travel are long gone. Here are some pics from the trip.
AND - Alec started walking about 2 1/2 weeks ago. It is hilarious - he looks like a little drunk Frankenstein. Crawling is still his preferred method of mobility, but he is taking more steps on his own every day. I'll post a video of it when I can.

The Playroom
Here are some cute pics of Alec riding on Matt's back, it elicits unstoppable laughter, and of Alec in his new playroom - yes - playroom. We gave in and convereted the dining room to a playroom. We really needed somewhere on the main level that Alec could play w/o getting into trouble, and we can contain him in the dining room while still using the kitchen, so it was the most logical choice. Plus, we never used the dining room anyway. So, for now our dining room table and hutch are residig in the basement and Alec has taken over. He seems to be enjoying it though, and it looks pretty cute.

10 Months Old
Alec celebrated his 10 month birthday this Saturday! We spent the weekend up at the condo and had a great time. Abby and Ross rode the triple bypass road race on Sat (yes - they rode 120 miles over 3 mountain passes - they are amazing!!!) and the race ended in Avon, so they met us at the condo on Sat night. Alec, Matt and I took our first long hike on Saturday up to Booth Falls in Vail. Alec enjoyed being the hiking backpack and actually found his voice in the process. He has been really quiet up to this point, he said gaa, gee and ahh a lot, but no real babbling. However, confine him a backpack for 4 miles and the sounds start coming. There has been a constant stream of babababa and raspberry blowing from him ever since. He has also started looking at a few things when we ask him where they are. So far he knows fan, light, book, Brody and daddy. Maybe he will surprise us and bust out one of these words soon. He is also in a very serious clingy phase right now - especially with daddy. If he leaves the room, or puts Alec down, all hell tends to break loose. This also happened at 2am last night, which was really strange for Alec who has always been such a great sleeper. He was in hysterics every time Matt and I left his room, but the minute we came back he was all smiles. It is a little endearing though, especially from our very independent boy, and hopefully it won't last too long. Here are some pics from the hike. Our poor little Brode (who turned 5 last month) is getting a little slow, as you can see the hike took it out of him....
