With the rest of the folks here in CO, we spent the last 2 days snowed in. Lucky for us, I packed up and headed to my mom's on Wed morning, so we had company and lots to do. I think I would have gone a little nuts if I was stuck in my house with Alec for 2 straight days, but instead we had a great time playing in the snow and keeping warm and well fed at Grammy's house. We bought Alec a snowsuit on a whim about 3 weeks ago, and he definitely put it to good use. As you can see, he loved the snow! The 2-day break also gave my mom and I some time to finish up Alec's yellow bus Halloween costume. It turned out great and he is super excited to debut it tonight at a Halloween party with his friends. I was going to wait to post pics, but I couldn't and included a few sneak peaks with this post.

Chicago
Hi all - we are home, got in yesterday afternoon and are SO happy to say that we had a fun and successful trip and as of this morning we are the proud owners of the above house. We looked at a ton of houses, and were more than disappointed in the majority of them. Unfortunately for us, the cost of living is much higher in Chicago than in Erie and cute and livable houses in our price range seemed hard to come by. But - on the last day of house hunting, Alec and I came across this house, a darling colonial built in 1908, and fell in love with it. We were w/o Matt, so we took him back on Sunday, and he loved it as much as we did. After some haggling, we finalized a contract this morning and are set to close on the 28th of January! We will be here in CO through the holidays, which is good news and we are so happy to have a house we are excited about to look forward to. We did manage to do some other fun stuff on our trip (as good as he was for us, I think Alec was finished with house hunting by the end,) and I have included a bunch of pictures. Funny note, Alec is now obsessed with airplanes and had a blast on both of our flights - he did cry both times, but only after the plane had landed on the runway, and this was b/c he wanted, in his words, "more jet plane," and "nother plane ride."
Visiting the awesome Lincoln Park zoo in downtown Chicago with Mark, Christie and Hayden.
It was nearly impossible to get a pic of Alec and Hayden on their choo-choo ride.
This leopard playing with a pumpkin was really cool to see.
Going on a hay ride.
Alec collected giant leaves everywhere we went. The first day we were there he actually brought some home for Matt and left them sitting on his pillow. Matt laughed pretty hard when he got home from work. He also collected quite a few for our realtor Don.
Hey there
Hanging in dad's apartment
Visiting another community zoo that had a fall fest.
Feeding the ducks
Taking the giant Ferris wheel at the Navy Pier - I might have had a bit of a panic attack during this ride, I know it sounds ridiculous, but it was REALLY high.
Checking out the Navy Pier.
Visiting dad at work for lunch.
Alec and I in downtown Glen Ellyn - our new town. Our house is only a block and a half away from the downtown shops and the train into the city!
It wouldn't be a successful trip if Alec didn't get a chance to throw some rocks, and yes - he did proudly sport his Colorado and Bronco gear all over the windy city.

Pumpkin Smiles
We had no luck getting pumpkins at the pumpkin patch this morning, so we took the boring route and bought some at Target this evening. Alec was just as excited about the Target pumpkins as he was the pumpkin patch pumpkins, and he had a great time playing with them when we got home. He loves his "big pumpkins" and was all about smiling and saying "cheese" with them this evening. Not as scenic as you would hope, but some cute pumpkin pics nonetheless.
